Yoga en Español: A Fundraiser for the Barrio Planta Educational Program in Nicaragua

November 18th, 2:30 - 4pm at Mighty Yoga in Ithaca (separate details apply - click here)
December 1st, 10:30 - 12pm at the Big Red Barn at Cornell University

¡Hola! ¿Hablas un poco de español?
If you are a Spanish speaker or learner please join me for a yoga class in Spanish! We will go over some basic vocabulary relevant to the yoga practice and then we will practice some poses together. Yoga will be accessible to beginners. It will be fun, informative, good for your body and for a good cause, namely a non-profit organization called the Barrio Planta Project which provides supplementary education to under-served children in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The organization is also the beneficiary of funding from the Costa Dulce Eco-Lodge where I will be hosting a yoga retreat in January. ¡Please consider joining me!

I am the former Director of the Language House at Cornell University as well as a yoga instructor in Ithaca, NY. I will be joined in teaching by Nicole Costa, a Spanish teacher and yoga instructor in Ithaca, as well as by Lilly Pascoe Briggs, a Postdoctoral Associate in the Education & Citizen Science Programs at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology who conducts research and outreach focused on environmental education in Latin America.

This event is sponsored, in part, by the Cornell Latin America Student Society.

Group size is limited to 30 people so please pre-register below and plan to arrive by 10:15.

Suggested Donation: $20.00 - pay by cash or check (made out to Vahana Yoga) upon arrival

Please NOTE:

  • Bring a yoga mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. We will have a limited supply of extra mats.

  • By participating in this event you take full responsibility for your own health and safety.  Neither Astrid Jirka, nor Vahana Yoga & Eco-Tours, may be held liable in case of injury.
